Alignment Errors seem to be gone
An update to the latest RC version of fontconfig seems to have cured my alignment errors problems.

GTK+ and font oddness
Well I upgraded my Z image to use gtk+ 2.10 and on the whole it seems to be running nicely apart from one small niggle.
When using the ttf-dejavu fonts I get thousands of alignment errors whenever an app loads. But I don’t actually think this is GTK+ as it affects rxvt as well. So I guess some lib for font handling on the chain changed 
Hopefully I can find the problem have have things running sweet again, as currently it takes anything from 5s to a minute to load an application.

Silent Hill
Went to see this film last night, was a bit dubious before seeing it as it is a “film of the game” and it had some dubious reviews.
But I must say I loved the film, it was a good re-telling of the story of SH1 with some nice snippets from 2/3 thrown in. They changed the plot to work better in the film in a good way. And the way SH works there are many many stories anyway. I also liked the way they managed to remove all the book/notice reading you do in game by having the story run in two threads.
My favourite stuff though was the special effects, which they had gone old skewl on and resisted just CGIing everything. It was well worth it as the locations and creatures were stunning.

Abiword Plugins
Sometimes Im too stupid to use bitbake, but after many trails and finally remebering in Python 4 x space != tab finally abiword-plugins spits out serperate packages in OE.
Now to investigate why some plugins attempt to reference an unknown symbol.

Abiword and Spelling
Got challenged on friday to get new abiword in OE, which happened before the official release announcement. And got challenged to fix the spelling. Which is probably a good thing as Im terrible at spelling. Anyway screen shot shows, now abiword and english spelling work from out of OE.
